Variegated Spider Plants:

Variegated plants have leaves that show different colors on their leaves. People often specifically look for variegated plants since they find them perfect with the color scheme of their houses. Out of all the different variegated plants, the ones I used the most in my household would be the variegated spider plant or reverse variegated spider plant.

Spider plants, or Chlorophytum comosum, are one of the most common houseplants available in the world. One of the reasons it is popular is that it is easy to take care of, making it perfect for beginners and relatively easy to propagate.

Reverse Variegated Spider Plant

A reverse variegated spider plant is for all intents and purposes, the same as regular variegated spider plants. The only difference between them would be that a reverse variegated spider plant has yellow or white margins or sides of their spindle-like leaves. On the other hand, regular variegated spider plants have a yellow or white line in the middle of their leaves.

Both types of spider plants and a number of spider plant varieties have the same advantages and benefits. As mentioned earlier, they are perfect for beginners and are very pretty to look at. Besides being easy to take care of, they also have various benefits which I will list down below:

1. Spider plants help purify the air

One of the main reasons people invest in a variegated spider plant is that it helps clean the air. A study made by NASA in 1989 showed that houseplants could reduce harmful toxins in the air by absorbing them. They look amazing as decor inside your house, but they also help purify the air.

Out of the different spider plant varieties but I often put a small spider plant like the Hawaiian Spider Plant inside the guest’s bathroom. All the spider plant varieties will help purify the air and add a bit of green inside the room. I choose the Hawaiian Spider plant because it blends wonderfully with the colors in my bathroom.

2. Perfect as Indoor Decoration

There are different types of spider plants or spider plant varieties to choose from that can add much flair to a room. One way to make spider plants pop out more is to place them in white pots to help provide a contrast between colors. Their warm green and yellow colors can easily bring a sense of warmth in any room.

Any variegated spider plant can be placed on a tabletop, as a centerpiece for your coffee table or even hung near a window or in the kitchen. As mentioned earlier, they are easy to take care of and the lush in their leaves are very easy to maintain.

3. Increase Humidity in the room

Variegated spider plants are considered one of the best plants to decrease humidity in the room. They can easily absorb the moisture from the air with their long slender leaves. The amount they can take may surprise you and the difference in moisture levels in the air will be very noticeable.

Having a spider plant indoors is especially beneficial during the summer or in tropical places when you want to avoid hot and humid weather. Having less humidity will also help in maintaining a mold free household.

I personally have a number of them around the house since my family loves the green that their foliage brings to the surroundings. They also help tremendously with the humidity and air filtering. Nowadays, air can get pretty dirty considering the rising levels of pollution.

Having a hot and humid afternoon can make a lot of people uncomfortable. That is why I usually have a lot of plants around the house to help bring a fresh breath of cold air and to reduce humidity levels in general. Spider plants are definitely one of the best ones to have when considering having indoor plants. Their names may not be appealing but the benefits they give will have you wanting more of them inside your house.
